I did go to ECCC I did wear a costume, and I did have a blast. Met some really cool artists that I follow on here and I cannot wait to see what new projects they have on the horizon.

Only sad moment was not catching up with one of my DA friends who was in attendance. Hopefully she drops me a line on here soon so we can find out why we were not able to catch up.
Preparing for Emerald City Comic Con 2015 but unsure if I'm going in costume this year. Really wanted to do ARROW but I'm quickly running out of time.

My name is Joshua, I have been on deviant for a few years now, but only recently started putting up some of my works.

I will eventually post individual pictures of my papercrafts, no they are not my own models, they are just simply ones that I found on here and made while I was bored at work each day. My co-workers love to come by and see what new ones I have done. I even got some of them to start building some of the simple designs but I am still looked at as the original because I do them so often.

I love meeting new people on here and finding new works of art that I enjoy. Feel free to browse though my favorites of what I have found to enjoy. While I am hoping to start creating my own versions of the papercraft heroes I have been unable to get the programs required to edit my current models.

I am still hoping this year I can start my first Cosplay costume. I'm hoping to go as the Red Hood, the clothes are not an issue, but the helmet/mask is going to be my real challenge. If I do get it started soon I will of course post my WIP.

Personal Quote: I don't make sexual innuendos because I'm horny I make them to make our conversation less boring.
I was going to post this on my Facebook page but I figured this community might be more versed in it.

I have followed cosplay for the better part of the last 2-3 years and even attended a couple of comic cons in the Seattle area. I got to meet Yaya Han last year and that was a dream (she wasn't in costume but hey costumes don't translate to business meetings well). There is a list of others I wish to meet over the coming years.

Anyway to my point, I have decided that I want to venture out and create my own first cosplay for ECCC 2014 (wasn't able to get my stuff together for last year so we're trying again). While I do have the drive and the passion to create the character I have one thing that holds me back, my wife. Lets just say not everyone in my family is as accepted of my passion as others. If you have ever seen my pics all my comic stuff sits at my desk at work, all my passion for comics and characters is reserved for work (and my co-workers love it!). I don't express ANY of my love for comics at home because it's not supported. So when I decided to finally do a cosplay for comic con I was greeted with great backlash on the subject.

"No you can't work on it at home! No you're wasting money on a stupid costume just you can look like those other nerds and embarrass me! (mind you she's afraid I'll make the news or something in costume and be identified). Why can't you just grow up and be an adult and quit liking all this stupid kids stuff?"

How do you express a love for a character you want to cosplay as at an event you look forward to every year when no one at home supports the idea of it. Now I will admit that I didn't come out guns blazing about my love of comics when I first met my wife slowly revealed my love for it, and thus that's why she's probably so mad about it. But my 5 y/o daughter loves comics, knows characters by sight when we look at pics from other cons or when I'm playing games like Marvel Heroes or DCUO she knows the iconic characters and asks me who others are.

Does anyone else out there get met with this kind of resentment for cosplay from your own family? How do you deal with it and how can I work with her to make the costume and spend the little amount of money I need to to get some things so I can finally be the superhero I know I am inside?

Your Jason Todd is inspiring. I love cosplaying Jason as well  (At Emerald City Comic Con in Seattle, WA, USA) and it seems each year I tweak it just a little more to my liking. Soon I hope to have it as close to perfect as I can get. Keep up the great work in all your upcoming projects.
